The Croatian Coast is home to stunning natural scenery. During this 7 night walking holiday you will explore some of the lush green islands of the Adriatic Sea and experience what has made the country’s crown jewel, Dubrovnik, so popular. Wander through the woods, get off the beaten track and enjoy views of Croatia’s stunning coastline. On the island of Mljet, visit a Benedictine monastery, hike through the magnificent National Park, and see the ruins of an ancient castle, all in the land that is believed to have inspired some of Homer’s Odyssey.

In Dubrovnik, stroll through magnificent Old Town, recognizable for being seen in popular TV show Game of Thrones, and stroll along the city’s old walls to take in spectacular views. Combining nature, culture and scenic islands, Croatia is a walker’s paradise. This trip is suitable for moderately experienced walkers, with the average walking distance being approximately 7 - 12km each day.

Holiday highlights

City Walls

These were built between the 13th and 16th centuries, and are still intact despite the 1991 bombings. The walls are over 2km long and 25m high, with no less than 16 towers. A walk along the walls is a must do, as the views from the top are fabulous.

Lokrum Island

This Island is a densely wooded nature reserve with an interesting botanical garden, the remains of a Habsburg fortress, and even a nudist beach. The Fort was built in a shape of a five-pointed star by the French army in 1806, and from the top there is a magnificent view of Dubrovnik and the island itself. It is a ten minute ferry ride from the Dubrovnik.

Island of Mljet

Just a couple of hours by boat sail from Dubrovnik, magical Mljet resembles an Adriatic island paradise as 72 per cent of the island is covered by forests, while the rest is dotted by fields, vineyards and small villages.

Benedictine Monastery

The old monastery is located on the small island of St. Mary's, in the Great Lake of Mljet Island. Many learned men and poets lived in the monastery as monks or abbots. Under Tito's regime, the monastery was turned into the Hotel Melita, to be used for recreation of workers from a state company in Belgrade.

Island of Korčula

The dense woods led the original Greek settlers to call the island Korkyra Melaina. Korčula impresses with its rolling hills, indented coves and a walled old town that resembles a miniature Dubrovnik. Being the largest island in an archipelago of 48, it offers plenty of opportunities for scenic drive.
